Customise your Auction House

Your Auction House is deployed, now it's time to make it feel like home.

There are a lot of customisation options which you can use to adjust your Auction House to match your brand and style.

This includes all elements of the design, such as the colours, fonts, logos and images.

You can also update your Auction House URL, the image preview and other important settings which can help with visibility and traffic. By default, you will be issued a 'draftX' URL - we suggest you update this as soon as possible to secure your preferred domain. The DNS propagation, aka the update of the domain URL, usually takes a few minutes but can take up to 48 hours.

To start customising your Auction House, click the 'Settings' icon in the 'Your Auction Houses' section, or via 'Settings' in the navigation bar on your Auction House.

Settings: Admin

The first two settings in the Admin panel are the Admin address and the Domain name.

If you wanted to change the Admin wallet for this Auction House, this is where you can update it. This process cannot be reversed if the wrong address is entered, so please be careful if updating.

You can also update your Auction House URL from the default domain, to any available domain prefix. This is an important part of personalising your Auction House, so we recommend you do this as soon as possible, ideally before launching any auctions.

You can update your domain at any time, but please be aware that the old link will expire and it may take a few minutes up to 48 hours for the update to take effect.

After editing your domain, you must complete a transaction in your wallet to confirm the changes.

Once the transaction has been confirmed on-chain and the DNS propagation is complete, your new Auction House URL will update in the settings.

Goodbye boring default domain, hello milo.gbm.auction

Auction House, Marketplace or both?

Another setting in the Admin panel offers the option to switch your Auction House between supporting Drops and Marketplace trading. In the example below, the 'Milo The Cat' Auction House currently has 'Drops' and 'Marketplace' turned on, meaning we can sell NFTs directly to other people AND we allow people to trade on our Marketplace.

You can easily switch between the options to support one or both at any time using the sliders.

The other settings here include: Visibility - This determines whether your Auction House can be accessed by the general public. When set to 'Private', only the Admin can connect their wallet and access the Auction House.

Cancellation period (marketplace) - This determines whether sellers on your Marketplace can cancel their auctions after they have finished. If a seller opts to cancel their auction when it already has bids, the seller must pay out the incentives for this auction. In this case, the seller would retain their NFT and the winning bidder would be refunded + receive the incentive they would have earned if they were outbid.

Currencies - You can decide which currencies to support on your Auction House and Marketplace. These currencies can be used for bidding in auctions and for buying NFTs via fixed-price listings. If you want to add or remove support for different currencies, just click the 'Update' button.

You must select a currency which is supported by the GBM Auction Protocol.

The list of supported currencies can be found herearrow-up-right.

Settings: Appearance

Now we're getting on to the fun part - customising the design of your Auction House!

The settings inside the Appearance panel will determine what your bidders and traders will see when using your Auction House and Marketplace. It also includes the ability to update your URL preview image, text and other details which can help your Auction House attract bidders and traders.

You can change your Auction House name here if you need to.

The Theme colors is where the customisation of the design really begins. You can adjust every visible section of the Auction House to match your brand and style.

If you already have an existing brand kit or design, simply copy-paste your different color hex (e.g. #FF6E18) into these sections - to create your custom-branded Auction House.

If you're starting from scratch, you can be as creative and experimental as you want before you find the style that works for you!

Begin by selecting the colors you want for the 'Brand & Interaction' settings, which include the buttons and various status indicators. You can also select a body background and text colors for each 'Page' of your Auction House.

Adjust your 'Navigation Bar' settings to determine how your nav bar appears and update the 'Cards' settings to decide how NFTs will appear in your Auction House.

You can also change all the design settings for the 'Panels' such as the dropdown menu's, modals and form containers (e.g. when entering a bid).

After you have updated your settings, make sure to use the 'Save changes' button to see them take effect. Per the message - it can take a couple of minutes to see the updates, so please be patient.

Once you are happy with the color scheme, you can proceed to update your 'Logo' - which will display in the top left of your Auction House.

You can provide a live-URL for this logo or upload the file yourself.

You are also able to add a 'Background Image' which would appear in the background of every page on your Auction House.

Another option is to add a custom 'Favicon' which is the small logo which appears on the tab of a web browser. It adds a nice personalised feel to an Auction House - so we recommend you add one!

The final two settings in the 'Appearance' panel are for 'Link previews' and 'Link preview image'.

These are particularly important settings because they determine what will show up when you share a link to your Auction House on other platforms.

For best results, upload a 1200×630 px or a 1600x900 px image. These are standard Open Graph/social preview sizes and should display cleanly when your Auction House link is shared on X, Discord, Telegram, and other platforms. Keep key text or logos centred to avoid cropping.

Please be aware that after you've updated your URL, it may take some time for the preview to update. It is usually quick to update on most platforms, but X can take longer or have issues due to it having a habit of caching/saving old images.

Top tip: The best place to test your URL is on Discord because it regularly checks for an updated preview image, but please be aware that Discord is more efficient at resizing the image for the URL preview than other platforms like X.

If you have any issues, our Discordarrow-up-right is always open with a community and team to support you.

Congratulations, if you've completed all the steps above, you are now the proud owner of a custom-branded Auction House!
